Bio
1970/Leningrad/USSR
Graduated from Leningrad Art College named after V. Serov.
Works and lives in St. Petersburg.
In 1994 K. Ragimov starts working under several projects that reflect his interest in photo-based art:
1. “HUMAN PROJECT” – series of painting copies from mass-printed originals (newspaper and magazine cuttings, posters, stickers etc). Each original is a group portrait made by the unknown author and combining ‘the sitters’ for this portrait on some or other special basis.
2. “METRO PROJECT” – conceptual series of oil painting works on paper (56[81 cm).
The series consists of about 60 realistic landscapes with the view of all the St. Petersburg metro pavilions.
The works are executed in various styles and show the different – sometimes fantastic – atmospheres in nature and time. This is a kind of attempt to create somewhat like the encyclopaedia of emotional states of a human and also to reflect some aspects of art and mankind history.
3. “AMBULANCE+METRO” – series of photographs depicting the ambulance cars staying near the metro entrance.
4. “ROADOFF” (the first version).
